Theresa M. Karter, RN, MSN, MBA, Named Vice
President, Patient Services for Methodist Hospital Division
of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
Theresa M. Karter, RN, MSN, MBA has been named vice president,
Patient Services, for the Methodist Hospital Division of Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
In this position, she will oversee all nursing activity at
the hospital including patient care, performance improvement
and risk management. In addition, she will be responsible
for the School of Nursing and the Methodist Hospital Nursing
Center Nursing Department.

said James Robinson, chief administrative officer for the
Methodist Hospital division.
Ms. Karter was most recently vice president, Nursing, at
the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, a position she held
since December 2000.
She began her career as head nurse at Crest Haven Nursing
Home in Cape May Court House, N.J., and also worked at Burdette
Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Court House. In 1985
she moved to Kennedy Memorial Hospital-University Medical
Center, Washington Division, in Turnersville, N.J., as director
of Nursing and in 1987 joined Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia
as director of Nursing and rose to assistant executive director
in 1995.
Ms. Karter received a nursing diploma from the Roxborough
Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, a bachelor of science
degree in psychology and health administration from St. Joseph's
College in North Windham, Me.(1974), and a Master of Business
Administration degree in Management from Monmouth College
in West Long Branch, N.J. (1987). She also earned a post master's
certificate in nursing administration from Villanova University
(1996) and an Master of Science in Nursing degree from Widener
University (2000) as a family nurse practitioner.
Ms. Karter is involved in several volunteer and professional
organizations including the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania,
the American Society of Operating Room Nurses, the Sigma Theta
Tau Honor Society (Eta Beta Chapter) and the American Red
Cross.
