Dr. Spiegel Offers Tips for Teachers Losing Their Voices in 6 ABC Interview

Dr. Joseph Spiegel, co-director of the Jefferson Voice and Swallowing Center, reports that teachers make up the biggest share of his patient population.

One of those patients is Lauren Roberts, a fourth-grade teacher, who could barely speak at the end of every school week. In a 6 ABC interview, Dr. Spiegel explains that Lauren's vocal cords were swollen, and so irritated, a nodule had developed on them.

Dr. Spiegel drained the cyst and recommended vocal therapy. He also gave this tip, "Speak as you're walking up and down the aisles, instead of trying to project to the back."
