Jefferson's Division of Gynecologic Oncology has expertise in treating women with both premalignant and malignant conditions of the reproductive organs. Those most commonly encountered conditions include ovarian, uterine and cervical cancers as well as such precancerous changes as may be seen in women with abnormal pap smears. The Division also provides care for women at higher-than-usual risk for gynecologic cancer based upon a personal history.
The Division's staff often collaborates with other cancer specialists, especially radiotherapists. The Division participates as Principal Investigators with the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), the national cooperative research organization for investigating new therapeutic approaches.
