Pinckney J. Maxwell IV, M.D., Joins the Department of Surgery at Jefferson
Pinckney
J. Maxwell IV, M.D., recently joined the Department of Surgery at
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH), and was also named an
assistant professor of Surgery at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas
Jefferson University. Dr. Maxwell specializes in Colon and Rectal
Surgery.
Dr.
Maxwell received his medical degree from the Medical University of
South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina in 2000. He earned a
bachelor of science in Biology at Furman University in Greenville,
South Carolina in 1995. Dr. Maxwell completed a series of residencies
in general surgery and surgical research at Louisiana State University
in New Orleans from 2000 to 2006. He subsequently served as a clinical
instructor of Surgery at the University Medical Center at Louisiana
State University. He completed a fellowship in colon and rectal
surgery here at TJUH from 2007 – 2008.
Dr.
Maxwell is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of
Surgery. He has been a candidate of the American College of Surgeons
since 2001, a member of the American Medical Association since 1997,
and a member of the Association for Academic Surgery since 2008. Dr.
Maxwell has authored two book chapters and published studies in such
noted journals as American Surgeon and Annals of Surgery.
