Philadelphia Inquirer Features Jefferson’s Care of Haitian Patient
A team of caregivers from Jefferson's Departments of Orthopedic
Surgery, Trauma, Nursing, as well as the Surgical Intensive Care Unit
(SICU), OR and Hospital Administration, worked to coordinate the
complex treatment for a man severely injured by the January earthquake
in Haiti. The patient is recovering at Jefferson.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of many Jefferson staff members,
29-year-old Wilner Pierre is now recovering in our new SICU -- his
spine repaired and his leg saved.
On Friday, the Philadelphia Inquirer front page featured the medical journey of Wilner, who was flown to Philadelphia to be cared for by our team.
