Dr. Kavuru Discusses the Effects of High Ozone Levels on Heart Health in NewsWorks Article

On July 7, 2011, a code orange advisory was issued for air quality for the Philadelphia and Susquehanna Valley regions due to high ozone levels.

Dr. Mani Kavuru, director of Jefferson's Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division, talked to NewsWork.org about how the ozone can also affect heart health.

"Cardiovascular disease is another area where there's pretty good data that if you have days of high pollution, that correlates with increased visits to the emergency room, for example, with heart attacks and so forth," Dr. Kavuru said.
