Dr. Gomella Interviewed by Fox 29 on Prostate Cancer Awareness

Dr. Leonard Gomella, chair, Department of Urology at Jefferson, talked with Fox 29 about the importance of getting screened for prostate cancer. It is the second leading cause of death in men in the U.S.

During the live interview, he recommended that all men at the age of 50 get screened for prostate cancer, unless you have a family history, in which you should be screened at 40 or 45.

"The good news," he said, "we are making a lot of progress in prostate cancer. In fact one of the biggest issues we're dealing with is that we now know many men we diagnose with cancer don't necessarily need aggressive treatment."
