Dr. Theodore Christopher Comments on the Fear of Lawsuits in Medical Practices on NewsWorks.org
It used to be that a doctor would wait to watch a patient's progress before ordering an X-ray. But these days, there is a fear of overlooking something and that is why so many expensive tests are ordered.
In a May 23 article on NewsWorks.org, Theodore Christopher, MD, chair, Department of Emergency Medicine at Jefferson, says "now I think the reflex is to right away send the patient to the emergency room. Nobody wants to miss anything."
