Dr. Brainard Comments on Screen Time Impacting Children's Sleep in San Antonio Express News Story
As children in the U.S. are spending more time in front of the TV and computer screens, researchers are studying the impact of blue light on the sleep cycle of both children and adults.
George Brainard, PhD, director of the Light Research Program at Jefferson, is one researcher who studies the biological and behavioral effects of light on humans. He is currently working with his team of researchers on a new lighting system for the International Space System.
In an interview with San Antonio Express News, Dr. Brainard explains, "The lighting system that we're working on for the space station, very specifically, will avoid using blue light in the evening for the astronauts in order to best prepare their bodies for sleep."
