Dr. Lisanti and Cancer Cell Mitochondria Study Featured in Philadelphia Inquirer
Cancer is a disease marked by cells that multiply out of control. A team of researchers at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, led by Dr. Michael Lisanti, now believe that cutting off the power supply to the cell mitochondria will prevent the cancer from growing and spreading throughout the body.
In an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, Dr. Lisanti explains his new research on the mitochondria and the role that an existing drug, Metformin, may play in reversing tumor growth and chemotherapy resistance.
