Dr. Sun's Perioperative Aspirin Study Featured on KYW Newsradio and in New York Times
A recent study conducted by Jefferson and UC Davis physicians and surgeons found a number of benefits associated with taking perioperative aspirin within five days of cardiac surgery.
In an interview with KYW Newsradio, Dr. Jian-Zhong Sun of Jefferson's Department of Anesthesiology says "Taking aspirin several days before heart surgery could cut down on problems after the procedure. A pre-op aspirin therapy has a significant decrease in the risk of major cardio-cerebral complications, renal failure, intensive care unit stay and 30-day mortality."
