Drs. Yeo and Brody Highlighted in Jewish Exponent Story About Pancreatic Cancer
Ninety percent of patients with pancreatic cancer, the fourth deadliest form of cancer in the United States, die within the first year of diagnosis. Physicians and institutions in Philadelphia are working to better understand and treat this deadly disease.
In an interview with the Jewish Exponent, Dr. Charles Yeo, chair of the Department of Surgery at Jefferson, explains, "Unlocking the genetic code to this cancer has not provided substantive benefit to patients" but it still provided useful information for future research.
Dr. Yeo highlights molecular biologist at Jefferson, Dr. Jonathan Brody, who is known for developing novel therapeutic strategies to treat the cancer's chemical triggers.
