Dr. Mather Featured in WHYY Blog and Wilmington News Journal

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the number one killer of men and women, responsible for a quarter of all deaths in the U.S.

Dr. Paul Mather, cardiologist at Jefferson and director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Center at the Jefferson Heart Institute, answers important questions about cardiovascular disease in a WHYY blog interview including:

  • What is a stroke? How does it relate to heart attack?
  • What is the relationship between diabetes and heart disease?
  • Can heart disease be reversed?

In a Wilmington News Journal article, Dr. Mather shares some advice for patients that have already suffered a heart attack, "Once you have an event you should always [have] heightened awareness. It's unrealistic to think you can do what you could before."
