Jefferson Dietitian Shares Tips for Healthy Eating During Super Bowl on NBC 10 and KYW Newsradio
For many, the Super Bowl is a day of overindulging and very unhealthy eating. In fact, the average number of calories consumed during the big game is between 1,500 and 2,000.
Emily Rubin, clinical dietitian of the Division of Gastroenterology at Jefferson, shares some healthy tips with NBC 10 and KYW Newsradio that can help viewers decrease their calorie intake.
She says, "Small changes really do help. You can save about 500 to 600 calories by baking things instead of frying."
Emily also suggests keeping the food away from the TV as a helpful strategy. For people with certain conditions including diabetes and heartburn, Emily warns that this type of consumption poses additional risks.
