Dr. Brainard Talks About Light's Impact on Health in Prevention Magazine
Evidence suggests that exposure to light at night may raise the risk of several types of cancer. This includes watching TV, sitting in front of the computer or even reading by a lamp late into the night hours.
George Brainard, PhD, director of the Light Research Program at Jefferson, explains in a Prevention magazine article, "Humans evolved on a planet without electric light over thousands and thousands of generations. The body is designed to be awake and alert during daytime hours and to sleep at night. Now we have a 24-7 society that isn't in harmony with our biological design."
