Dr. Susan Littman Comments on Advanced Gastric Cancer Study in HemOnc Today

A recent study presented at the 2012 Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium showed that patients treated with a particular type of chemotherapy, iceMFP, for advanced gastric cancer had better outcomes when assigned to intraperitoneal cisplatin and/or an early start of the chemotherapy.

Dr. Susan Littman, medical oncologist at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, comments on the study findings in HemOnc Today. She says, "This study showed that the addition of IP cisplatin chemotherapy and early administration of chemotherapy may be helpful as adjuvant chemotherapy in resected gastric cancer."
