InformationWeek Interviews Pam Kolb About Telemedicine Robots
Particularly useful in time-sensitive situations, hospitals are beginning to use telemedicine robots to extend the reach of specialists that are unavailable onsite. Since 2010, Jefferson has been using a robot from InTouch Health to help care forĀ stroke patients. Jefferson neurologists are able to conduct stroke consults via robots in 22 community hospitals.
Pam Kolb, vice president of clinical and support services at Jefferson, said in an article from InformationWeek Healthcare that using robots for remote consults "seemed a logical thing for us to do, because we have the expertise here, and we have a very large stroke team. We felt there was a need for better stroke care in the community."
