Jefferson Psychiatry Chair Appointed Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Michael J. Vergare, M.D., the Daniel Lieberman Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, has been appointed Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. In this role, Dr. Vergare will serve as the central focal point for the academic, administrative and support functions of the university. The appointment is effective immediately.

Reporting in the journal Nature, researchers led by Emad Alnemri, Ph.D., professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, discovered a key protein component involved in inflammation.

African-Americans Have Worse Prognosis Compared to Caucasians When Diagnosed With Colorectal Cancer

African-American patients with colorectal were more likely to present with worse pathological features at diagnosis and to have a worse five-year survival rate compared to Caucasian patients, according to a study conducted by researchers at Thomas Jefferson University.

Pre-emptive Treatment Helped Curtail Skin Toxicity with Panitumumab
