Dr. Edith Mitchell Quoted in Essence Magazine Article Entitled, "The Black Woman's Guide to Breast Cancer"
Jefferson medical oncologist Edith Mitchell, MD, FACP, of the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson is quoted in an Essence Magazine article entitled, "The Black Woman's Guide to Breast Cancer."
Dr. Mitchell responds to one of the many questions in the guide: "What if I feel a lump?" She advises, "Don't wait any longer than one month for follow-up." This is especially important because African American women are more likely to develop aggressive tumors, and fast action might mean a less aggressive form of treatment if necessary.
