Dr. Pascal Jabbour Talks Pipeline Brain Stents in Delaware State News

To help alleviate two brain aneurysms from 67-year-old patient Charles Middleton, Dr. Pascal Jabbour implanted a recently approved pipeline brain stent into Mr. Middleton's brain.

According to Dr. Jabbour in a Delaware State News article, "this (pipeline stent) is a revolution in the western world. It is changing the way we're treating aneurysms. Now, instead of going inside the aneurysm, we are staying just outside it, diverting blood flow away from the aneurysm."

Jefferson is the first hospital in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware to use the Pipeline Embolization Device (PED) on a patient. Now, with the FDA approval, Jefferson vascular neurosurgeons can offer this same treatment to other patients who would not have benefited from traditional stents due to the size of their aneurysms.
