Dr. David Nash Interviewed by Information Week About Telemedicine
According to a new study published in Health Affairs, combining telemedicine and care management tools can significantly reduce the costs of treating Medicare patients with chronic diseases. The study focused on a handheld device called the Health Buddy that patients use at home to answer questions about their symptoms, vital signs and health behavior.
In an Information Week article, Dr. David Nash, dean of the School of Population Health at Jefferson, commented on the study, saying "It is an excellent review of some of the evidence supporting the role of telemedicine in chronic care management. It's particularly germane under health reform as the industry searches for more efficient ways to manage chronic illness."
