Dr. Vijay Rao Comments on the Accuracy of Mammogram Technology On CNN.com
A large new study of computer-aided detection, CAD, reveals the failure of mammogram technology in improving breast cancer detection and the increasing risk of wrongly informing women about having an abnormal mammogram.
In a July 27 article on CNN.com, Vijay Rao, MD, chair, Department of Radiology at Jefferson, comments on this new evidence and the importance of using more discretion in interpreting CAD results. She asks, "Is it a legitimate pair of eyes? Is it really doing the job that the radiologists want it to do?"
