Jefferson Cardiologists Highlighted in Philadelphia Tribune About Raising Awareness for Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Young Adults

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in young athletes today. State Representative Mike Vereb introduced legislation that would provide guidelines and other relevant materials to inform and educate student athletes, parents and coaches about the nature and warning signs of SCA.

Jefferson cardiologists David Shipon, MD, and Reginald Ho, MD, participated in a press conference to raise awareness of SCA. Highlighted in a Philadelphia Tribune article, Dr. Ho says, "We have the potential to save many young lives through screening and by creating systems for organized sports to catch young people who might be prone to sudden cardiac death."
