Fred Rincon, M.D., Joins Department of Neurological Surgery at Jefferson
Fred Rincon, MD, MSc, FACP, recently joined the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital departments of
Neurology and
Neurological Surgery and was named assistant professor of Neurology and Neurological Surgery at
Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Rincon specializes in neurointensive care.
Prior to his appointment at Jefferson, Dr. Rincon served as an attending neurologist at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ. Previously, Dr. Rincon completed a fellowship in Internal Medicine and Critical Care at Cooper University Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in Vascular Neurology and Neurocritical Care at New York Presbyterian – Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Rincon is board-certified in internal medicine, neurology and vascular neurology, neurocritical care, and critical care medicine. He performed his neurology residency at New York Presbyterian – Columbia University Medical Center and his internal medicine residency at Lincoln Medical Center in New York. He recently earned his master’s degree in Epidemiology from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
Dr. Rincon completed his medical degree at Universidad Militar Nueva Granada School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Bogota, Columbia. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Rincon was a visiting research scholar with the department of Surgery and Vascular Biology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Newark, NJ. He received his bachelor’s degree from Colegio El Rosario in Columbia.
Dr. Rincon has received multiple honors and research awards for his work in neurology and neurovascular surgery. He has written numerous journal articles and has presented his research on stroke and neurocritical care at international scientific meetings.
A fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Rincon is also a member of the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the Neurocritical Care Society, and the Society for Critical Care Medicine.
