Jefferson's First Robotic Mitral Valve Repair Featured on CBS 3
Jefferson is the first hospital in the Philadelphia region to perform a completely robotic mitral valve repair. The first patient, Charlie Terrana, 76, is feeling great and is eager to return to his active lifestyle.
In a CBS3 interview,
Dr. Gurjyot Bajwa, a surgeon in the
Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Jefferson, explains, “The robot makes it easier for us to visualize the mitral valve and repair it in a simple way that leads to shorter operative time and faster recovery for the patient.”
