Matthew D. Vibbert, M.D., Joins Department of Neurological Surgery at Jefferson

Matthew D. Vibbert, MD, recently joined the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Departments of Neurology and Neurological Surgery and was named assistant professor of Neurology and Neurological Surgery at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.  Dr. Vibbert specializes in Cerebrovascular and Neurocritical Care.

Prior to his appointment at Jefferson, Dr. Vibbert was an assistant attending physician at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York from 2008 to 2010.
 
Dr. Vibbert performed his combined neurology and internal medicine residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. While there, Dr. Vibbert served as chief resident for neurology from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Vibbert completed his fellowship in Neurologic Intensive Care at Columbia University Medical Center and The Neurological Institute of New York in 2010.

A graduate of The University of New Orleans with a B.A. in philosophy, magna cum laude, Dr. Vibbert earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2003.

Board-certified in neurology and internal medicine, Dr. Vibbert has received multiple honors for his academic excellence in neurology. His stroke and neurocritical care research has been published in academic journals including Neurocritical Care.

Dr. Vibbert is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Neurology, the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Heart Association and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
