About Strobovideolaryngoscopy

Information

Strobovideolaryngoscopy at Jefferson

Strobovideolaryngoscopy is an evaluation of the vocal fold to diagnose voice disorders. This sophisticated technology, performed by the staff of the Jefferson Voice and Swallowing Center, also allows for early detection of small masses, vocal scarring and other abnormalities, as well as determining how vocal cord lesions affect the voice and vocal dynamics.

During a strobovideolaryngoscopy, a camera is passed through the nose or mouth and a strobe light is utilized to create a slow motion picture of your vocal cords. This examination is then recorded as video for further analysis.
