Anesthesiology is the medical specialty which studies anesthesia and anesthetics.
The word anesthesia is derived from the Greek and means "without sensation". Anesthesiologists are medical doctors with at
least four years of training in this field after graduating from medical school. All anesthetics at Jefferson are prescribed
and supervised by the anesthesiologists in our department.
