TJUH Named a Top Performer in the Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration (HQID) Project

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH)  has been named a top performer in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Premier healthcare alliance value-based purchasing (VBP) project that rewards hospitals for delivering high quality care in six clinical areas.

The Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration (HQID) Project is the first national project of its kind, designed to determine if economic incentives to hospitals are effective at improving the quality of inpatient care.

Through the project, Premier collects a set of more than 30 evidence-based clinical quality measures from 223 hospitals across the country. The quality measures were developed by government and private organizations and are commonly known as the National Hospital Quality Measures, or Core Measures.

Through collaboration and teamwork our Hospital received HQID awards in the following clinical areas based on compliance to the measures below. This is the fifth year of the project:

  • Attainment in the clinical area of Acute Myocardial Infarction
  • Top Improver in the clinical area of Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
  • Attainment and Top Improver in the clinical area of Heart Failure
