In addition, the ASMBS and SRC have named David Tichansky, MD, FACS, as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence designee. Dr. Tichansky is director of Jefferson's Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Program and an associate professor at Jefferson Medical College.
Jefferson's Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Program consists of a team of experienced and dedicated healthcare professionals offering the safest, most successful bariatric surgery experience possible. Our surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and fellowship trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. We collaborate with our nurse practitioners, dieticians, psychiatrists and medical consultant physicians — taking time to get to know our patients to help ensure they receive the highest-quality care.
The Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Program welcomes questions and is dedicated to helping patients understand the benefits and weigh the risks of weight loss surgery.
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE) program was established in 2004. The BSCOE program is designed for facilities and surgeons in the United States and Canada, and is the world's largest center of excellence program for bariatric surgery. Currently, 458 facilities and 802 surgeons are BSCOE designees. Nearly 300 additional surgeons and 150 facilities have been approved for provisional status.
