Care of Breast Cancer
Diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for breast cancer have improved significantly over the last two decades. Our understanding of the types, stages, and course of the disease has improved, as have technology and know-how for addressing it.
Mortality rates for breast cancer decreased by 2.3 percent per year from 1990 to 2001, with even larger decreases in younger women. Increased awareness, earlier detection through screening, and better treatments are reasons for these improvements.
