Breast Cancer Treatment
Treatments for breast cancer have improved and are under constant refinement. Today, many types of treatment are in use.
If you are diagnosed with breast cancer, your Jeff physician will recommend a treatment plan based on:
- your age, overall health, and medical history;
- extent of the condition;
- your tolerance for specific medications, procedures, or therapies;
- expectations for the course of the condition;
- and your opinion or preference.
Some patients with early cancer may require surgery only as treatment. Patients with more advanced cancers are more likely to require more than one type of treatment. Most patients receive some combination of cancer treatments. Providing targeted therapies and therapy combinations is where clinicians have gained the most knowledge and made the most scientific advances, in treating breast cancer.
Breast cancer treatments include:
Surgery
Radiation therapy
Chemotherapy
Hormonal therapy
Integrative or Complementary therapies
