Preparing for your Visit
Preparing carefully for your appointment is the best way to assure that you have a visit that is as successful and productive as possible. You will need to set aside a certain amount of time for the visit and allow for a number of steps.
Here’s what to expect on your first visit:
When you come to your appointment be sure to bring these things:
- any previous radiologic films (breast x-rays, ultrasound studies, or other), pathology slides; or other relevant images or readings from your records;
- a list of your current medications;
- knowledge of your family history and medical history;
- any additional information forwarded by your regular physician;
- your insurance card, with ID number and group number;
- means to make any in-office co-payments necessary.
Before and during your visit, think about what questions you need to have answered by your healthcare provider. This many include information about staging of your condition, side effects of treatment, next steps in care, medications, follow-up, limitations after treatment, or other matters.
There are no restrictions on eating or drinking prior to your initial visit. |
