Many cancers besides colon/rectal cancer will spread, or metastasize, to the liver. This includes breast, esophageal, gastric
(stomach), pancreatic, lung, renal cell carcinoma and metastatic melanoma. This can even occur years after the primary tumor
has been diagnosed and treated.
In cases where the new tumor is confined to the liver, patients have many of the same treatment options as they would in managing
primary liver tumors or metastatic colon cancer. A full evaluation is critical in adequately assessing the extent of the tumor.
