HCC is often a disease of dependency (chronic alcohol consumption, obesity, drug use). Thus, at the time of presentation there are often psychological factors that need to be addressed. In addition, most patients who are presented with a diagnosis of cancer have the need for supportive social and psychological care for the anxiety and depression so commonly a response to such a diagnosis.

We believe that psychological support and intervention are very important parts of the total care of our patients with liver cancer. Psychological evaluation and therapy is a service that is offered to our patients through the Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine.
