David M. Capuzzi, MD, PhD, Endocrinologist and Lipid Specialist
Dr. Capuzzi is a nationally recognized expert on cholesterol, lipids, and heart disease risk factors. Prior to starting the
Brind Center’s lipid management program, he held many prestigious positions, including Director of the Cardiovascular Disease
Prevention Center and Director of the Lipoprotein Laboratory, at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Capuzzi is a leading researcher
on the effects of niacin and other substances on cholesterol levels and heart disease risk. His clinical practice integrates
state of the art medicine with lifestyle modification and nutritional supplementation to treat patients with a variety of
lipid disorders, cardiovascular risk factors, and thyroid dysfunction.
Dr. Capuzzi received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and his PhD from Johns Hopkins University. He is Professor
of Medicine and Professor of Biochemistry at Jefferson Medical College and Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Capuzzi is board
certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Lipid Association
and President of Northeast Lipid Association (NELA). He has numerous peer-reviewed publications and is on the editorial board
for both the Journal of Clinical Lipidology and Endocrine Reviews.
