Patricia Coughlin, PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Coughlin is a psychologist who works closely with clinicians at the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine.
A licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience, she is an expert in short term dynamic psychotherapy.
This technique is especially helpful for identifying mind-body interrelationships that are often present in chronic and acute
conditions, and are a hallmark of integrative medicine. This technique therefore complements the treatment plan of a variety
of health problems, such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, depression any illness that can
be exacerbated by psychological distress.
Dr. Coughlin received her PhD in clinical psychology from Syracuse University and completed her clinical residency at Northwestern
University Medical School in Chicago. She has held faculty positions at Northwestern University Medical School and Albany
Medical College in New York. As an educator and trainer for short term dynamic psychotherapy, Dr. Coughlin has published
two books, one of which is considered a classic in the field. She also leads training programs for psychologists, psychiatrists
and other practitioners both in the United States and internationally.
