Joel S. Edman, DSc, FACN, Integrative Nutrition
Dr. Edman is the Director of the Integrative Nutrition Program at the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine.
He has over 18 years of experience in clinical nutrition, with particular expertise on therapeutic application of dietary
guidelines and nutritional supplements within the context of an integrative medical model. He has developed diet and lifestyle
programs for patients with a wide range of medical issues, such as cancer, metabolic syndrome, neuropsychiatric disorders
and gastrointestinal disorders. His consultations focus on reasonable dietary plans that are individually tailored to the
unique needs and characteristics of the patient.
Dr. Edman is the Associate Research Director for the Brind Center, and his research interests focus on core medical issues
such as hypoglycemia/insulin resistance, food intolerance, anti-inflammatory nutritional effects, and compliance to nutrition
and lifestyle programs. Dr. Edman is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Jefferson Medical
College and Thomas Jefferson University. He received his master’s degree in clinical nutrition from Drexel University and
his doctorate in nutritional sciences from Boston University. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition and
a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS).
