Mission

The three-fold mission of the Mindfulness Institute is to offer the benefits of mindfulness-based stress reduction to the wider communities served by the Jefferson Health System, to provide clinicians and educators with training and supervision in the teaching of MBSR, and to increase the acceptance of MBSR and other mindfulness-based interventions in medicine, health care, and education through empirical research and theoretical study.

We will accomplish these missions by:

  • Maintaining the highest level of excellence in our delivery of the foundation MBSR program for patients and community members
  • Continuing to innovate, develop, and deliver advanced courses and workshops in mindfulness and its applications for the ever-expanding population of graduates of the foundation program
  • Continuing to innovate, develop, and deliver workshops, intensive training courses, and supervision and support programs for clinicians and educators
  • Initiating and supporting research in the use of mindfulness-based interventions in medicine, health care and education.
