The Courses
The courses we offer range from a one-hour lecture
presentation to 4- to 8-hour programs including hands-on modules. The
courses consist of a didactic module that will cover the threat of
terrorism and WMDs; specific threats such as nuclear radiation,
chemical agents, blasts and explosives; and the medical management of
these threats. Review of incident management systems, communications
and the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) may be included if
appropriate for the target audience.
The practical component
consists of skills stations where students will learn how to put on and
take off various protective gear (don and doff), decontamination
procedures and the medical management of patients with state-of-the-art
computerized simulation mannequins.
Depending on your needs, the
course can then proceed with a functional or full-scale exercise that
will be Joint Commission-compliant for hospitals.
The course
will conclude with an After Action round table discussion of the
exercise. The drill can be videotaped at your request and can be used
in-house by your organization for future reference and training.
An
optional tabletop exercise can be presented in order to practice and
evaluate your organization's incident command system and disaster plan.
Depending
on the program developed, there may be multiple instructors at your
training event who are experts in various disciplines. The team varies
by the specific program but may consist of EMTs, paramedics, nurses,
firefighters, physicians and emergency managers.
Continuing education credits can be awarded to EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physicians and pharmacists.
This
course, with all the staff and equipment, can be held at your location,
at your convenience, adjusted for your specific needs. This is a high-quality program that will have a direct positive effect on the
operations of your facility in a large-scale event. We can tailor the
course to challenge even the most advanced provider.
The cost depends on the complexity of the program.
