I had a gastric bypass nine months ago and have lost 80 lbs. I am 5’9” and now weigh 185 lbs. My last dexa scan showed I’m losing muscle mass. I work out with weights 2-3 times a week. Is there anything else I can do to stop losing muscle?

Muscle mass loss during rapid weight loss is often associated with protein deficiencies. Proteins are also needed in the recovery phase of muscles after working out. Anyone losing muscle mass should have blood work drawn and increase protein as a first step.
