Are there any special preparations a patient must do before surgery?

We have you get some laboratory work done.  All insurance companies require that you have a psychological evaluation.  We also require a cardiac clearance, sleep study, and upper endoscopy.  If you smoke, you will need to quit smoking before your surgery.  Some of the insurance companies require a medically-supervised weight loss program, but that is insurance-dependent.
