Jefferson's Department of Emergency Medicine team offers world-class emergency services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in Center City and South Philadelphia. Our Emergency Departments are staffed by attending and resident physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, technicians and ancillary staff specially trained in emergency medicine. In addition, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Center City is one of the few hospitals in the nation that is both a Level I Trauma Center and a federally designated Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center.
Jefferson's multidisciplinary teams throughout the Hospital, including those who specialize in chest pain, stroke, trauma, sexual assault and sickle cell, assist the emergency medicine physicians in offering advanced-care options.
