Leukemia and Lymphoma Treatment
Hematologic malignancies are cancers of the blood cells and their pre-cursors. The most common types are leukemias, Hodgkins’s lymphoma, and Non-Hodgkins lymphomas. These cancers may arise from the bone marrow, lymph nodes, or extra-nodal locations such as the stomach, brain, testes and orbit. These cancers cause fatigue, anemia, weight loss, fevers, chills, night sweats, bleeding, abdominal pain and / or palpable masses.
While chemotherapy is the mainstay of treatment for these cancers, radiation plays an important role in certain types of lymphomas. Additionally, we offer total body irradiation as part of the condition regimen prior to bone marrow transplants as a part of the therapy for certain leukemias and lymphomas.
