Cutaneous Surgery

About the Division of Cutaneous Surgery

Skin cancer screening exams, consultative evaluations and treatment of all types of symptomatic benign growths, pigmented lesions and skin cancers including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma are provided by dermatologists in Jefferson's Division of Cutaneous Surgery.

Mohs micrographic surgery is available for the treatment of recurrent or aggressive skin cancers or those in cosmetically delicate locations such as the nose, ear, lip and eyelid.

Cosmetic Dermatology services are also offered, including collagen injection and Softform® facial implants, Botox injections, scar revision, laser resurfacing of wrinkles and acne scars, chemical peels (including glycolic acid), sclerotherapy, tumescent liposuction/liposculpture and hair transplantation.

Research and Education

In addition to patient care, the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology's world-class research programs facilitate clinical studies, investigate advances in dermatologic therapies and engage in studies of genetic skin diseases, connective-tissue disorders and skin cancers. The Department is also internationally renowned as an education facility, providing residency training in dermatology; rotation programs for physician training in related specialties such as family medicine; education of medical students; and certificate programs for international students.
