The Division of Pediatric Surgery at Jefferson is devoted exclusively to the management of surgical problems in infants and children. Pediatric surgery is not limited to one area of the body but encompasses diseases that are unique to children or require special expertise. We offer a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – the highest level of care for newborns available, staffed by neonatologists.

We have partnered with Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children to provide expert general and specialized surgical care for infants and children. At Jefferson and at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, pediatric surgeons perform procedures ranging from the routine to more complex surgeries. Jefferson pediatric surgeons perform highly advanced neonatal surgery for correcting life-threatening congenital conditions.

In Wilmington, Delaware, the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children's 128-bed facility is designed around the needs of the hospitalized child. Building on its reputation as a world-class pediatric orthopedic center, the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has in recent decades become a full-service pediatric medical center. Similarly, the Medical Center of Delaware's Christiana Hospital offers general pediatric care as well as specialized care in areas such as neonatology, cardiac surgery and pediatric trauma.
