With Intravenous Vitamin C

This study is a collaborative effort between the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine and the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital.

Formal Title: Phase I, Open Label, Dose Escalating Study of Intravenous Ascorbic Acid in Combination with Gemcitabine and Erlotinib in the Treatment of Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer. (IRB# 09D.99; Principal Investigator – Daniel A. Monti, MD)

The primary goal of this study is to test the safety and tolerability of intravenous vitamin C in combination with standard chemotherapy for newly diagnosed metastatic pancreatic cancer. Secondarily, the study will assess progression of the disease. 

Requirements

Some of the requirements include:

  • Males and females who are at least 18 years of age
  • Confirmed diagnosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma
  • Metastatic disease that is measurable by CT scan or MRI
  • No previous chemotherapy or radiation
  • Able to commit to three infusions a week for eight weeks (note that vitamin C infusions will be free of charge for study participants)
