- Laparoscopic kidney donor surgery – Jefferson is unique in our exclusive use of a minimally invasive approach.
- Desensitization of listed kidney patients – For the 16 percent of listed kidney patients who are considered "highly sensitized," Jefferson offers a treatment protocol that may enable them to receive a transplant sooner.
- Living kidney exchange – Paired donation, or "domino exchange." Sometimes patients have friends or loved ones who are willing to donate a kidney but are unable to do so because of incompatibility. Through a living kidney exchange, Jefferson may be able to help you find a suitable match.
- Bloodless surgery – Jefferson surgeons employ “bloodless” surgical techniques whenever possible to eliminate the need for transfusion of blood and blood products during kidney transplantation surgery.
- HIV patient policy – At Jefferson, we are committed to providing transplant therapies to appropriate candidates. We have developed protocols for HIV patients who need a kidney transplant.
