How is mindfulness different from transendental meditation?

Transendental meditation is a concentration practice that focuses attention on one thing to help bring a particular transcendent state of mind and body.

Mindfulness is an open awareness practice in which you focus on whatever is happening in the present moment. Mindfulness is not geared to attain a particular state of mind and body, but rather to be aware of and open to whatever experience one is having in the present moment.
