To what extent does meditation produce health benefits that are noticeable to the person who meditates?

A person who practices mindfulness meditation is able to notice the many health benefits within a short period of time. The benefits include reduced anxiety, pain and blood pressure; a better ability to cope with stress and chronic illness; an enhanced sense of well being and more. Many of these health benefits are measurable. Scientists have shown and been able to measure through brain scans changes in the brains of meditators after just 8 weeks of meditation.
